Frequently Asked Questions

What size fonts should I use?

Actually, size isn’t the only consideration, but we generally recommend 26-40 pt for the first name in a clear, easy-to-read font like Helvetica or Arial.

The golden rule in nametag design is to make the first name readable from 10ft away so introductions and networking are easy. The rest of the information on the Name tag should be smaller so that first name really leaps out. See our Name Tag Insert Design Tips for more.

What emergency information can/should I include on the back of my badge?

Since most of your guests will be traveling into town, consider both on-location emergency information your guests can use if the need arises and a space for their personal emergency information in case the unthinkable happens.

On-location Emergency Information: Local Police, Fire and Ambulance numbers plus the address of the nearest Emergency Room. It’s a sensitive issue but you may also consider including local chapters of support groups like Alcoholics and Gamblers Anonymous.

Personal Emergency Information: Leave space to let your guests fill in any Medical Conditions, Allergies, and Next of Kin/Emergency Contact.

Aren't all name tag inserts alike?

After 30 years in the meeting planning business and dozens of competitive analysis tests we can answer an emphatic no. Great inserts have to strike the perfect balance between heavy enough to hold their shape while inserting, but light enough to feed through the printer jam free. Perforation design is also critical to guarantee the sheet stays together through printing but separates easily when assembly time comes. Put all those factors together with a clean, bright finish that takes printer toner without smudging and you have an insert with no equal – only from pc/nametag®!

What are the similarities between Standard and Quick Snap inserts?

First the similarities. Both meet out high standards for clear smudge free printing, jam-free feeding and wrinkle free insertion. The difference is the perforation pattern that lets our Quick-Snap inserts separate in half the time – 2-3 bends along the perforation vs. 4-5. The time savings really adds up on a 400-person guest list.

What size holder will this insert fit?

Just order the same size holder. We’ve already built in the room you need for hassle-free assembly.

Where can I find printing templates for my inserts?

Have a look here for all our Microsoft Word insert templates. We also have instructions for using Word’s Mail Merge function for printing your guest list.

Do you offer any eco-friendly inserts?

Conservation and stewardship are two subjects we take very seriously here at pc/n. That’s why we have a full selection of greener options.

How can I use inserts to help me organize attendees?

We offer a full selection of semi-custom, Color Bar and Title/Color Bar inserts to group attendees for different teams and activities.

Is there an easy way to print customized agendas on the back of my inserts?

Rather than trying to print front and back, try setting up your mail merge to print 2 inserts side-by-side. Their name insert is printed on the left column and their schedule on the right. After printing you simply fold both sides together and slip them into the holder. It takes more paper, but sure saves printing hassles.

What is the fastest way to separate inserts after printing?

Most planners find it’s easiest to grab a stack of 3-5 insert sheets at a time. Bend the entire stack back and forth along each perforation line (2-3 times for Quick-Snap Inserts, 4-5 times for Standard) then lay the stack on the table and pull along the perforations. Working in these small batches of 4-5 sheets saves a lot of wasted motion over separating each sheet individually.
