Resource CenterName Badges - Designing the Perfect Name Badge Paper Insert
Designing the Perfect Name Badge Paper Insert
The no-hassle guide to designing the perfect name badge paper insert (for all of us who didn't go to graphic design school.) So you're not Picasso. You can still create a great looking, "power networking" name badge your guests will love by following
these 6 simple steps.

1. Remember the 10 ft. rule.

An attendees’ first name is the most powerful piece of information another attendee needs to feel comfortable when reaching out for a networking opportunity. Make sure the first name is readable from up to 10 feet away by selecting a clear, large type size. 26-40 pt should do it.

2. Use type size to establish a hierarchy.

Lay out all the other information with a clear hierarchy of most important down:

a. Most important info (first name or nickname): 26-40 point

b. Secondary info (full name): 20-24 point

c. Tertiary info (company name, title or location): 19-20 point

3. The Clearer the font the better.

Sure fun fonts are, well, fun, but you need clear, legible type that helps people connect. And you can’t
make eye contact if you’re too busy squinting to see another attendee’s information. Here are some of
our favorite name badge fonts:

4. Your logo is important.

Keeping your event logo on top or on the bottom
of the design gives your sponsor valuable exposure
and ensures attendees can tell at a glance whether they are in the right event (Hey, it happens more
often in large conference centers than any of us
would like to admit.)

5. Don’t forget the back.

The back of the name tag is valuable real estate for information your guests appreciate having close at
hand during the event:

Back of tag options
Map
Schedule
Sponsor message
Retail advertising/discount coupons
Emergency contact info
Next meeting’s date and promotional message
Local convenience contacts: Cab, theater, etc.
Inspiring quote of the day, company motto

6. If it’s all too much hassle.

Just give us a call and we’ll do the design work for you. Our Namebadges to Go™ Professional Service
